Assembly/Surface: Power sander, heat gun, nail gun, staple gun, glue gun
How They Work
- Power Sanders: Most common types include Orbital Sanders (for fine finishing) and Belt Sanders (for heavy material removal). They use a motor to move an abrasive pad in a circular or linear motion to smooth out rough spots.
- Heat Guns: These work like a hair dryer but at much higher temperatures. They use a heating element and a fan to direct heat, which can soften adhesives or make thermoplastics moldable.
- Nail & Staple Guns: These can be Pneumatic (powered by an air compressor), Cordless (battery-powered), or Manual. A safety mechanism on the tip must usually be depressed against a surface before the trigger will fire.
- Glue Guns: Solid glue sticks are fed into the back of the gun. A heating element melts the stick, and a trigger mechanism pushes the liquid glue out of a metal nozzle for precise application.
