Keystone Jack - RJ45 wall-mount jacks (Cat6, Cat6a).

Keystone Jack (RJ45) is a snap-in modular unit that permanently terminates horizontal network cabling. It features a front-facing female RJ45 port and a rear termination point (typically punch-down or toolless) for connecting internal copper wire pairs.

Keystone jacks are foundational to clean, professional, and reliable network installations. Unlike direct RJ45 plugs meant for patch cables, these jacks are designed to remain stationary inside a wall or rack.

  • Standards & Speed:
    • Cat6: Supports speeds up to 1 Gbps at 100 meters, or 10 Gbps over shorter distances up to 55 meters, operating at 250 MHz.
    • Cat6a: Specifically engineered for 10 Gbps performance over a full 100-meter run at a frequency of 500 MHz.
  • Termination Methods:
    • Punch-Down: Requires a specialized 110-impact tool to press wires into the IDC (Insulation Displacement Connector) slots. This is the most common method for permanent, high-density professional installs.
    • Toolless: Designed with a built-in hinge or cap that presses the wires into place as you close it, eliminating the need for extra tools—ideal for home users or quick field repairs.
  • Physical Features:
    • Shielding: Available in UTP (unshielded) for general office use or Shielded (STP/FTP) variants with metal housings to block interference in industrial or high-noise environments.
    • Wiring Schemes: Most feature color-coded guides for both T568A and T568B wiring patterns to ensure error-free installation.
    • Build Quality: High-quality jacks often feature gold-plated pins to prevent oxidation and ensure stable, low-resistance connectivity over hundreds of plug-in cycles.
