Server monitor

A server monitor is a display unit used to provide visual output from a server, allowing administrators to interact with the system directly when needed. While most servers are accessed remotely, a monitor is essential for initial installation, configuration, diagnostics, and recovery tasks.

In data center environments, server monitors are often part of a KVM (Keyboard, Video, Mouse) setup, enabling control of multiple servers from a single console. Rack-mounted LCD monitors are commonly used, as they save space and integrate easily into server racks.

Server monitors are typically designed for reliability and clarity rather than high-end graphics performance. They support standard display connections such as VGA, HDMI, or DisplayPort and are compatible with various server hardware.

Although not always actively used, a server monitor plays a critical role in ensuring administrators can directly access and control servers during critical operations, especially when remote management tools are unavailable or fail.
