Array Protection Box

<p>A specialized electrical safety enclosure designed to aggregate multiple solar panel strings into a single output while providing essential protection. Equipped with high-voltage DC fuses, surge protection devices (SPD), and circuit breakers, it shields your solar inverter and the entire system from lightning strikes, short circuits, and overcurrent events.</p>

The Solar Array Protection Box (often called a DC Combiner Box) acts as the primary safety interface between your solar modules and the inverter. In any professional photovoltaic installation, this box is mandatory to ensure that the high-voltage electricity generated on the roof is managed safely before it enters your building.

Key Protection Components:

  • DC Surge Protection Device (SPD): Acts as a lightning arrestor. In the event of a nearby lightning strike or a sudden voltage spike, the SPD safely diverts the excess energy to the ground, protecting the sensitive electronics inside your inverter.

  • DC Fuses & Holders: Each string of solar panels is equipped with its own fuse. If one string develops a fault or short circuit, the fuse will "blow," isolating that specific string and preventing damage from spreading to the rest of the array.

  • DC Circuit Breaker / Isolator: Provides a manual way to disconnect the solar power safely. This is critical for emergency shutdowns or when performing routine maintenance on the inverter.

  • IP65 Weatherproof Enclosure: The components are housed in a high-impact, UV-resistant PC/ABS plastic box. The transparent flip-lid allows for easy inspection of the breaker status without exposing the live wires to dust or moisture.
