Elevator Landing Door Interlock

An Elevator Landing Door Interlock, a critical safety component designed to prevent the landing doors from opening unless the elevator car is safely positioned at that floor.

Key Components & Operation
  • Mechanical Hook & Latch: The curved hook at the center mechanically locks the door panel to the frame. It only releases when a "retiring cam" on the elevator car physically pushes against the interlock rollers.
  • Electrical Safety Switch: Housed in the clear plastic box at the top, this switch completes a "safety circuit" only when the door is fully closed and locked. If this circuit is broken, the elevator will not move.
  • Guide Rollers: The two circular bearings at the bottom allow the interlock mechanism to move smoothly along the door's track.
  • Spring-Loaded Tension: A heavy-duty spring ensures the latch remains under tension, providing a "fail-safe" that keeps the door locked by default.
