Network Rack or Cabinet

Network Rack or Cabinet is a standardized frame or enclosed cabinet designed to house and organize networking and IT equipment. It provides a centralized location for devices such as switches, routers, servers, patch panels, modems, and UPS systems, ensuring proper cable management, ventilation, and physical security.

Racks are typically open-frame structures, while cabinets are enclosed, often with lockable doors and side panels for added protection. They come in various sizes, usually measured in “rack units” (U), where 1U equals 1.75 inches of vertical space. Standard sizes include 19-inch and 23-inch widths.

Network racks and cabinets enhance airflow to prevent overheating, allow easy access for maintenance, and support organized cable routing, reducing clutter and improving reliability. They are essential in data centers, server rooms, and enterprise network setups, providing both operational efficiency and protection for valuable networking infrastructure.
