A Voltage Tester is a critical safety tool used to detect the presence of electrical energy in a circuit, outlet, or wire. It ensures that a line is "dead" before you begin work, preventing accidental electrocution.
How the Product Works (Non-Contact)
Most modern DIYers use the Non-Contact (Pen) Style for its ease of use:
- Capacitive Coupling: The tip of the pen contains a sensor that detects the small amount of electrical current that leaks through the insulation of an AC wire.
- Safety First: Because you don't need to touch bare metal, there is a much lower risk of shock.
- Visual/Audible Alerts: When voltage is detected (typically between 12V and 1000V), the tool triggers a bright LED and a loud "chirp."
